Alaska Airlines Expands Premium Seats on Over 200 Aircraft
Added on Mon July 29th, 2024
Due to high traveller demand for seat upgrades, Alaska Airlines will increase First Class and Premium seats on more than 200 of its aircraft starting in September 2024.
The fleet includes Boeing 737-900ER (79 aircraft), 737-800 (59 aircraft), and 737 MAX9 (80 aircraft) with a total increase of 1.3 million seats annually.
Specifically, there will be overall seat improvements, along with new features such as leg rests, a redesigned device holder on the seatback, integrated cup holders, USB charging, and a 6-way adjustable headrest with dedicated neck support.
For First Class, Alaska has partnered with Recaro Aircraft Seating. New Recaro models will be installed on the company’s 59 Boeing 737-800s, expanding First Class seating from 12 to 16. In Premium Class, seating will increase from 24 to 30.
The Main Cabin will be reduced to make space for the new seats. Despite the increase in seating, four lavatories will still be available on board. The conversions are expected to be completed by the summer of 2026.
