KLM chooses Recaro for its new A321neo aircraft
Added on Wed September 11th, 2024
Recaro, a partner of KLM for over twenty years in cabin interior supply, has outfitted its new A321neo aircraft with R1 and R2 seats, offering travellers increased comfort and sustainability.
The seats, customized with the KLM logo, feature integrated support for BYOD devices and USB-C charging ports. In Economy Class, KLM has chosen an exclusive and larger table to provide more space. Additionally, the seats are covered in lightweight synthetic leather to reduce overall weight, which in turn reduces fuel consumption and minimizes maintenance costs over the seat’s lifetime. The R2 seat’s comfort features include an improved cushion for the seat bottom and backrest, an integrated headrest, and the modern convenience of USB-C power at each seat. These elements are designed to enhance passenger well-being and connectivity during the flight. The aircraft is configured with 36 R2 seats in Business Class and 191 R1 seats in Economy.
Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating, emphasized the importance of developing customized R1 and R2 seats that meet customer needs and passenger comfort. He expressed confidence that these seats will enhance traveller comfort and support KLM’s long-term sustainability.
For her part, Marjan Rintel, CEO of KLM, expressed enthusiasm for this long-awaited choice, which she believes will allow travellers to enjoy a meaningful and comfortable travel experience.
