Emirates, a leader in inflight entertainment
Added on Thu October 27th, 2022
Emirates keeps following with its commitment and motto of ensuring its passengers ‘flying better’ with next-generation in-flight entertainment solutions.
In fact, in 2024, with the arrival of the Airbus A350 fleet, the new AVANT Up system from the Thales Group will be the choice.
With investments accounting about USD 350 million, Emirates Chief Operating Officer Adel al Redha proves that inflight entertainment has always been crucial for the airline. This is also proven by the first customised seat-by-seat screens installed more than 30 years ago.
The revolutionary technology of Thales’ AVANT Up system includes Optiq 4k QLED HDR displays, the only aircraft displays embedding Samsung’s QLED technology for a full viewers immersion in over a billion colours.
With Thales’ new system an enhanced ‘live’ TV solution with a wider choice of live programmes and news in the highest definition available at 40,000 feet, will be also provided.
Thales Avionics Vice President Yannick Assouad, himself, feels proud to be working with Emirates especially in terms of connectivity. In fact, thanks to the new Optiq 4K QLED HDR display, it is possible to offer two connections: Bluetooth and integrated Wi-Fi to allow passengers to pair multiple devices including phones, tablets, headsets or even game controllers, supporting up to 60 watts USB-C to quickly charge personal devices.
But surprises are not over yet: to enable passengers enjoy an even more immersive experience, Emirates has chosen a range of digital services from AVANT Up. These include highly integrated personalisation features, expanded capabilities for personal electronic devices (PED) and user interface enhancements designed also for the visually impaired.
Emirates is also the first airline to globally choose Thales’ Pulse, a patented power management technology not affecting charging performance even connecting multiple devices at the same time.
